Uniform

Ballet Uniform

Prospective pupils may borrow the following uniforms for their first trial lesson. Please enquire if you would like to use this free service.

TWINKLE TOES,  PRE-PRIMARY & PRIMARY

  • Pink short sleeved leotard
  • Pink  tights
  • Pink chiffon/georgette wrapover skirt
  • Pink leather ballet shoes fastened with elastic
  • Pink hairband,secured with two hair-clips
  • Pink crossover cardigan (optional)

GRADES ONE AND TWO

  • Black short sleeved leotard
  • Pink tights
  • Black chiffon/georgette wrapover skirt
  • Pink leather ballet shoes fastened with elastic
  • Black canvas character shoes (Cuban heel) *parents please check if needed in current term*
  • Black hairband,secured with two hair-clips
  • Black cotton crossover cardigan (optional)

GRADES THREE AND FOUR

  • Black short sleeved leotard
  • Pink tights
  • Black chiffon/georgette wrapover skirt
  • Pink leather ballet shoes fastened with elastic
  • Black cotton crossover cardigan (optional)

GRADES FIVE AND SIX

  • Black, optional style leotard
  • Pink tights
  • Black chiffon/georgette wrapover skirt fastened with self-ties
  • Pink leather or canvas split soled ballet shoes fastened with elastic
  • Black cotton crossover cardigan (optional)

GRADES SEVEN AND EIGHT

  • Optional Colour, optional style leotard
  • Pink tights
  • Black chiffon/georgette wrapover skirt fastened with self-ties
  • Pink leather or canvas split soled ballet shoes fastened with elastic, or softened pointe-shoes
  • Any style or colour crossover cardigan (optional)

BOYS

  • White leotard or T-Shirt
  • Black footless tights
  • White ballet socks
  • Black leather ballet shoes

Ballet dancers should strive to have an immaculate appearance, here are the guidelines;

  1. Hair neatly fastened off the face.
  2. No watches or jewellery (except for small stud ear rings) to be worn.
  3. No underwear showing.
  4. Drawstrings tucked inside ballet shoes

HOW TO DO A BALLET BUN

  1. Pull the hair back into a ponytail.
  2. Twist the hair and coil around the elastic to form a bun shape, secure temporarily with a couple of strong bun-pins.
  3. Place a hairnet over the bun and wrap any spare net around and under the bun.
  4. Use several strong bun pins and hairspray if desired to secure it

……… et viola! You now have a perfect ballerina!

ADULTS

  • Leather or canvas ballet shoes.
  • Optional clothes that are close fitting and allow easy movement – E.G Leggings, Tracksuit pants, T-Shirt, Leotard, Tights, Ballet Skirt, Crossover ….. what ever you feel comfortable wearing.

Ballet clothes can be ordered online at dancedirect.com but all shoes should be properly fitted.
