“Hooray For Hollywood”

The Potten End Ballet School put on the production “Hooray For Hollywood” on 6th December 2014, to rapturous applause!

Students from the age of seven to eighteen years, along with one brave adult student, performed in the show. All the dances in the programme had a connection to Hollywood and were especially choreographed for the dancers by Juliet Tschaikowsky.

The programme for “Hooray For Hollywood” was:-

Lights,Camera,Action”– set in a 1920’s film studio with lots of comical Charlston steps!

” Red Shoes”– set in a dance studio and with a Jazzy feel as it was danced to Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.

Black Swan” –   portraying  swans, pointe students were movingly accompanied by live violin from a talented musician belonging to The Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

The Secret Garden“- a pas de deux to just Birdsong, was created for two dancers portraying the relationship between the robin and old gardener from this classic story.

Puttin’ On The Ritz” – inspired by Fred Astaire and the use of his dancer’s cane, ballet dancers in tutu’s and pointe shoes imitated his style with an imagined cane.

White Christmas” –  inspired by Ginger Rogers and in an American Smooth style, dancers in white chiffon dresses and using white feather boa’s created a romantic climax to the show.

“I’m very  proud of all my students who performed so professionally in our show, Hooray For Hollywood. After months of hard work it was really exciting to see the choreography, music and costumes all come together in such a spectacular end to the year!” Juliet Tschaikowsky.

Show photographs will be loaded onto the site soon.
